Hurricane Helene Storm Response

Working as a drone pilot is an adventurous and gratifying profession. I've now experienced a higher level of service that was very rewarding. As a contractor for a major energy company, I was dispatched to Asheville, NC for Helene storm response. The amount of devastation, and the visual of how it happened, is so very surreal. My partner and I provided reconnaissance data in many of the hardest hit areas. Surveying the flooded Hot Springs substation and flying the mountain ridges looking for downed lines. Checking on the Walters Dam allowing a Tennessee evacuation order to be cancelled. Documenting the amount of downed poles and wires in the River Arts District, and covering the arrival of the mobile substation in Swanannoa. Please keep Asheville in your hearts, it's a special place that experienced a horrible tragedy.

"Sunrise at Seven Magic Mountains"
My favorite drone video project. The couple with the drone at the end was a complete coincidence!
Seven Magic Mountains is a $3.5 million art installation along the far southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard. It was created by the Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. It is one of the largest land-based installations in the United States completed in the last forty years. It receives 325,000 visitors annually. From Wikipedia

Some Feel Good Landscapes
I had the pleasure of doing distribution pole inspections in the Lake Arrowhead area of California, located about 80 miles from Los Angeles. Fun fact: many of these mountainous areas were so dense poles could not be installed. The insulators and lines were connected directly to the trees! We were there for six weeks, lodged right on the lake. I was able to get these videos on a very scenic Memorial Day. There was a pair of bald eagles that came everyday to a tree on my hotel property. I had the rare opportunity to get a video of them chatting.
