It’s all about photos, and the passion behind them, with comments about my experience getting the shots. This blog was started as a place to park my best photos from the 2009 AMGEN Tour of California, but it will evolve into a varied collection of photographs.
I would like to thank a few people who have helped me learn about photography. —
First, thank you Patri Feher, www.blackrosegallery.com, for all the years of teaching me Photoshop. Check out her site and buy her cards, they are pieces of art!
Thank you Marty Shomstein. You and Pat were there when I got my first digital camera in 2003. All the photography adventures we went on, all the laughs, all the driving around lost! Marty, it was because of you that I got a bike to loose those horrible 60 pounds I had gained. We had a lot of fun riding all over Connecticut and New York. I sure miss our days of riding, shooting, and coming home to fire up the BBQ for a big fat Marty burger!
Thank you Daddy Iggy and Iggy Jr. for giving me the chance to practice and hone my photography skills. Having someone specific to focus on makes all the difference, knowing that my photos can benefit someone. I am very glad I met you at the first bike race I ever attended or photographed. It will be an exciting ride for everyone at Iggy Racing!
Thank you Jim Jordan for all the time you spent giving me a crash course in the basics of photography, and for answering all my emails. It was fun shooting Iggy’s race with you, and meeting your nice family.
Thank you Jim Storms for starting the photography club that put me in touch with more helpful photographers. You and Ruthie have been so supportive of my photos, that gave me a great deal of confidence. It has been really nice getting to know you the past 16 months that we have been riding together.
Thank you Bob Webber for lending me the nifty camera backpack. You too have been very supportive and responsive. I look forward to going to the ACES meetings.
Ed Rubinstein… Wow, I owe you a HUGE thank you for making this trip possible. And on top of that, you are responsible for my media credential. I will wear that lanyard around my neck with more pride than you will ever know. None of this would be happening for me if not for you. Let the stages begin! THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!!
I’ve always thought cyclists were the coolest breed of human, but photographers rank right up there. At least all the photographers I have become friends with. We all share a true love for what we do. It must be a bonding thing.
Cheers!
